Not pleased with 02 ! My contract.

Anonymous

Hi,

I am looking for advice on my current situation with 02.

I signed up with 02 for an unlimited +24 month plan and I got an IPhone 5. The only reason I took this contract was because I was told that I can lower my contract after 1 year because I am due to go travelling in 2 months and I have no money to continue paying est. £37 a month.

When I was sold this contract, the sales person made it clear I can lower the contract but hid the fact that 02 can randomly change the tariff and this would basically void me downgrade it.

I find it so disgusting that they have such a clause in place, that year after year after year, when there is hype around new contracts and tariffs that 02 simple change one thing around their tariffs which will ultimately void the downgrading terms.

02 increase the VAT around Feb 2012 but never provided any notice to change in the policy and this just **bleep**ed up my whole plan and contract. Of course you can upgrade at any time.

This is **bleep**ing disgusting, unmoral and unethical and I am seeking advice that will assist me in my situation to change or lower my contract.

Thanks,

The vat will never void a contract as that is a government tax that o2 legally have to pass on either up or down. this will not void a contract

O2 this year raised tariffs for inflation again inline with T&C again no get out (but ofcom are looking at this)

I got the contract from Phones4u and the sales adviser, never put it in writing.

I went down there to speak to the same guy and it turn out he was fired

Probably another reason why O2 have dropped P4U from selling new contracts - They can only do upgrades now due to a large number of complaints about their sales tactics....

Guys,

This is very simple !

VAT increases, usual **bleep** with government. But has 02 can choose if they want to pass that on to customers or not.

Now 02 decided to pass that on to customers without any notice and because of that it voids the downgrading part of the contract! ANY changes to tariff will do so.

But you will never see them change the actual tariff such as minutes, texts, data bla bla. They knew the VAT was going to change, same thing 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008. It standard in a new year

Phones4U did agree with me that the terms I was giving by the sales advisor was correct but the fact that he hid the fact about 02 changing their tariff without any notifications can void the downgrading part.

My complaint is with 02, because they have such a disgusting clause in place not Phones4U and they never provided me with any notice of this change. To be honest, my credit rating is good and don't give crap about if I can't get a new contract with any providers. Just setup a new name and you are good to go. Not that hard. it's just disgusting the way 02 operates.

VAT has been at 20% since before you started your contract. You are talking a load of rubbish. If your credit rating is good now, it won't be if you don't pay what you owe. Set up a new name? You're talking about fraud. That is a crime. Try it and see how far you get.

If you affect your credit rating then getting a mobile phone contract , bank account/overdraft or mortgage will be harder to obtain.

Im not sure what you mean by this ; "Just setup a new name and you are good to go"

O2 have not changed anything in the T&C re downgrading since you took out your contract you were misled by phone4u.

Facts are in the t&c on this website and what I posted earlier.

I am sorry you are in this situation but as we are all customers offering you advice here not much more we can say that has not already been said.
