Also try rebooting your phone after cleaning the sim. Check if anyone else on O2 is having a problem and see if you can try your sim in another O2 or unlocked phone.

check your postcode here http://status.o2.co.uk if that shows no issues try the usual sim out back in reeboot the phone etc.
If issues shoun then that will be the problem
