I bought handset yesterday and as part of what I have paid for upfront is next day delivery. It is now 14:46 and there is no 1 hour time slot from DPD, who have not yet received the phone from o2, nor any response from o2 about where the handset is. It seems most people on here have not received their purchase next day as promised. Should o2 stop advertising a next day delivery promise they cannot meet?

I agree with you. The problem is O2 do not have a live stock system which means they will take your money but probably don't have the phone in stock.
Looks like you should contact the sales team as they can help with that – message them on Social Media if that works best for you -on Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter ( https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG)
Or you can call them on 0800 081 0255

I have always got my phones next day from o2, and you have to remember out of thousands of deliveries o2 organise with DPD or DHL, a few will go astray..
Added to the fact that most people only post on here when things go wrong....

There are countless posts all over the internet about o2 not fulfilling their side of the contract and delivering next day, despite taking upfront payment. This is not insurmountable.
This is a forum for customers trying to get answers from other customers because of poor o2 customer service and no direct contact with anyone who could help with a real issue. Don't be fooled. It's not just o2 being nice!
