My contract is almost up and I'm going to get a new phone. I want to buy a new phone outright and then upgrade my existing contract to a sim only deal. Is this possible and I'll need to keep the same number as I'm in emergency services

Yes, absolutely possible.
Make sure you choose the Upgrade option, then look for Sim only (you might need to scroll down a little)...
The tariff change normally happens same day, so the next bill might be a little weird because of the two tariffs.

Yes it's possible. In the shop look at the phones only.

Then select your sim only tariff.

Make sure you do the sim only as an UPGRADE. That way the number will remain the same as everything is changed on the system
