I contacted O2 asking about buying a new phone because my current one is on its last legs and just swapping over my current sim card, keeping my number and current contract. The advisor insisted I couldn't do this and I had to take out a new contract to go with the new phone. Can I not just buy a PAYG phone and swap sim cards?
It works out cheaper to buy a new phone and I certainly don't wnt to be tied to a new more expensive contract than the one I an currently on.

Hi @Stan63
Of course you can use your old sim. I do it every time I upgrade! The only time you need a new sim is if moving from PAYG to Pay Monthly or vice versa. Even then you can keep your number.

NB, my last 3 phones were bought outright and I'm using the same sim.
