I recently bought a  brand new phone from o2 my provider. It was a present for someone who is with vodafone. How do they connect it to there network. I tried to unlock it from 02 but they said the imei number had never been used. They've put their sim in the phone but doesn't seem to work

You need to use a PAYG Phone for 12 months before it can be unlocked https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/How-to-Guides/Unlocking-an-O2-phone-to-use-a-different-SIM-card/ba-p/1...
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

@peter401 I believe you would have to put your O2 sim in the phone to register it on the O2 network before you could unlock it. Depending on the phone you bought, you may not be able to unlock it immediately. What kind of phone is it?

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2
