New phone, but don't want to start using it yet.

Hi,

I have just received a new phone; it's a birthday present for my son, so it won't be set up and used until mid-December. I don't suppose that's a problem? I understand that the contract will start immediately, but other than that leaving the phone idle for a fortnight won't cause any problems? Or will it? Is there anything else we need to consider?

Thanks.

@TNJ As long as they're getting their money, I'm sure O2 doesn't care when you start using the phone.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2
