Hi, I created a new order for a sim only plan. During the process I entered the STAC code which I received from my previous provider along with the existing phone number. Both were accepted and it allowed me to move to the next stage.

In my confirmation email the phone number is different to the phone number I planned to transfer. Has the STAC code process worked? My order number is ms-xxxxxxxxx

[Mod edit: Please do not post order numbers on the public board. Thanks!]

You can ask your old provider for a PAC and then contact O2 to ask them to process it for you.

We’re just customers like you but it sounds like you’ll need someone to access your account which can’t be done from here. If you message O2 on Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help you with this
Thanks

You use a STAC to cancel your old contract and number and to receive a new number.

If you want to keep your old number you should use a PAC Guide: How to get your PAC [June 2021 Update]

Thank you, I misread an article and thought the STAC would bring the number across with the convenience of closing the account too.

Is it too late to bring the old number across?
