Hey everyone!

Having a right blank moment at the moment, when upgrading your phone and clicking the option of 'yes I need a new sim' will this come with a complete new number or will the old number get transferred over? I want a new number and I know about the sim swap if wanting the same number but needing a different size sim.

Sorry if this doesn't make much sense lol see_no_evil

A new SIM would keep the same number, it would be if your phone had a different size SIM for example. However, if you contact customer services they should be able to sort you out with a new number.

@Titch93 I believe you can go either way. Your new sim will come with perforations for you to select the correct size. In fact, your old sim may also have perforations and you could use that one, should you want to keep your number. If you don't you can activate the new sim with the right size, or swap your old number onto it, as you already know. Alternatively, if you're unsure about any of this, you can call into your local O2 store when you get your new phone and they'll sort your sim out for you.

An upgrade will automatically come with your old number.
If you want a new number, you will need to let customer services know.

They would normally send out a blank SIM when you upgrade so that you do a sim swap to keep your old number. You need to call them on 202 so that they send you a new pay monthly sim complete with new number which you then have to activate.
