New home address not recognised

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hello

I have recently just moved to a new house on a new estate.

I currently have two contracts with o2 that I have had for several years.

I have applied to get another contract in my new address but got declined. Further investigation with o2 and they said it was because my new address does not show up on the Royal Mail post code checker.

Is there anything I can do to sort this out as the new phone was going to be a Christmas present?

Is it possible I could change my address back to my old address with o2 as I still own that house and reorder would this then be accepted?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Go in store to get phone and use your old address until the postcode system gets updated.

This is probably a good thing @Anonymous (that your postcode wasn't recognised)  There is every chance the item you wanted is out of stock online....and wouldn't be delivered in time for Christmas. Do as @MI5 says and go instore to get the phone. Your address being updated is the least of your worries at present. It will will happen in good time. Best of luck...

It may also be a good idea to take a bill or some form of ID with you for the old address too, just in case....

Going in store may not help if O2 have already declined the OP. It may already be flagged on their system.

Yeah, hence taking the ID with them.

I understand that, but anyone working in store would only be calling CS, and ID or not, if the system is saying no, they may not be able to alter it. The OP might want to speak to the Post Office or their local council to get verification of the new post code. That may help too.

Royal Mail do have a section on the website where you can notify them that you have moved in to a new build postcode. Chances are your postcode is already in the system, but not on the open system which companies have access to. They need to update this for O2 to be able to recognise your postcode.

Just drop them an email from their site.
