You will need the SIM, which may be en-route to you via Royal Mail, as PAYG and Contract SIMs are different, @Carole5
You should be auto registered for MyO2:
That said, MyO2 has been flaky lately, the result of an upgrade by O2 that went sideways and which is affecting many hundreds of customers. You may need to contact O2 to enquire about your SIM and your MyO2 access, all the ways here: Guide: How to find help & contact O2
