Do All phones need a new sim from April 1st or is it just the older ones?

Only 5G phones need a new sim @Dispdoc and there is no requirement for any phones to obtain a new sim on April1st

I struggle to understand why O2 would send me a new Sim if it were not needed?

It will be a blank sim they send out with ew contracts or upgrades

If you want to use it then follow the instructions in this guide

It never hurts to change sim periodically

@Dispdoc If you bought a new phone capable of 5G you would be sent a new 5G sim. If you're in an area that isn't 5G ready yet you can carry on using your old sim if it's the same size. You have the option to swap to the new 5G sim at any time by following this guide: SIM Swap: a mini guide (incl eSim) - O2 Community
