Hi there.
I unboxed my new Samsung A8 tablet today and inserted my new SIM for it as it comes with a data allowance. Straight away I had a text from Lowell's the debt collection agency addressed to someone else to get in contact with them about arrangements. It's a legit text with the right number for Lowell's etc.

I'm really worried that my name and credit file is now associated with someone who is being chased for debts.

Any thoughts on how to proceed. I really just want to take it back and get it cancelled etc.

@Salpops Just because it's the right number doesn't mean it's legitimate. Numbers are being spoofed on a regular basis: Number spoofing scams - Ofcom

As it isn't even addressed to you it sounds like a scam, but you should call customer service in the morning.

Call 202 from your mobile or 0800 032 1402
When it comes to the reason you are calling, stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.
Press 2 for Everything Else
Press 5 for More Options
Press 7 for Anything Else which will put you though to someone.

8am is the best time to call.

Just call lowell direct & tell them what you've said above & they'll happily instantly remove the (if any) association with the number 👍

Reassuringly I don't think contact tel numbers are used as credit checking process but you still don't want it 🙄🙃
