Hi, Wondering if anyone can advise with the following.

I was with Virgin Mobile which switched to a new O2 sim plan in July this year.

I’ve just bought a new phone through Buymobiles. net with a new O2 sim and a new contract.

I’m looking to move my number to the new sim and new phone.

I called O2 this morning and they said i’d have to go into an O2 shop.

Just been to the O2 shop and they’ve said i need to call O2?

@Andy74

You need to migrate your number Guide: Migration & porting into O2

However, there are issues with migrations of Virgin numbers and it seems the only short term solution is to PAC out to a PAYG on a different network and then back into your new O2 contract.

Guide: How to get your PAC [June 2021 Update]

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Migration needs to be done by customer service

We've had a couple of customers having problems buying through 3rd parties and O2 are having issues migrating numbers from Virginmedia

Virgin Media and O2 2023 Merger Update | The Drop | Inspiration | O2

The first line reads "In June 2021, Virgin Media and O2 joined forces with the mission to supercharge the UK."

More than two and a half years on and customers still have issues porting or migrating their phone numbers, and the switch to the new billing system causes problems for so many. We see it here every day. Every day.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

If porting out be careful to what network, as quite a few linked to EE DO NOT have a Porting agreement with o2...

- Xperia 1V - o2 and Spusu
- Pixel 8 Pro - o2 and Vodafone UK

Clarification required as denial is against OFCOM rules and networks don't port numbers independently.
