New Contract claims Unlimited WiFi from BT, is that true.

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi Guys

Just taken out a new contract and the paperwork says I get unlimited WiFi through BT, is this true.  When I took out my last contract 2 years ago they also said that but no one was ever able to connect to a BT Openzone Hotspot, ad they later admited to me that they had lost the contract.

So have they got the contract back or are o2 still telling porkies.

Thanks

Jeanette

I have been onto customer support quite a few times over this and I am still not able to connect to a single BT WiFi hot spot.

every time I contact them I get the same old run around every time.

i have lost count of the number of times I have text wifi to 2121 to reset my network connection or the number of time support have claimed they have sent a network reset request to BTOpenzone.

and still I am unable to connect.

every time I find a hotspot all I get is the standard BT landing page asking for my logon detail which it promptly reports as incorrect. Support have assumed me that my user name and password is my phone number, so I know that's correct, but still every time I just get the standard BT landing op age and not a mention of O2 being a logon option.

can anyone help with this, or confirm that they have or have not been able to connect through a BT wifi hotspot.

Thanks for any help with this as its driving me nuts.

Not all BT Openzone hotspots are free for you to use, many are private, the ones open to O2 customers won't show the BT log in page and you will only need your phone number.

Check for O2 hotspots here:

You cannot use BT Fon either.

I think that page has only been up for a year or two at the most, they have an O2 Wi-fi app as well now.

So judging from the results from using the links posted above its not BT Openzones that O2 customers are able to connect to rather its O2 wifi hotspots that we can connect to which is a hell of a lot less than BT Openzone hotspots.  So they are just telling porkies when they say connect to BT Wifi, unless O2 hotspots are supplied by BT, and they claim its some but not all BT Hotspots. Good job i have a couple of working BT usernames/Passwords so that I can connect to all BT Openzone Hotspots.

You seem to be posting with different user names or is this someone else?

Have you tried this link?

To see BT Openzone hotspots near you, visit our hotspot locator

If your tariff includes wifi access, or you have a Bolt On, you can still use BT Openzone hotspots.

How connect to BT Openzone

Tap Settings

Tap Wi-Fi

Switch Wi-Fi on

Then choose the BT Openzone hotspot from the list. If this is the first time you have used a BT Openzone hotspots you will need to register your mobile number and handset with BT Openzone. Once you have chosen the network, go onto Safari and you will be taken to the BT Openzone “landing page”. Choose O2 as your network provider, if asked, and enter your mobile number for verification.
