Hi,

Would really appreciate some advice please.

I have just upgraded my device and plan but kept the same O2 number. The new phone is 5G enabled but I have kept my previous 4G device. As I want to continue using my previous 4G iPhone for now, I was just wondering if I need to put the new SIM I received in my old phone, or whether I can just carry on using my old SIM in my old phone?

@WadeyBHA

Carry on using your old sim in old phone until you are ready to use new phone, then do a sim swap Guide: Sim Swap: a mini guide 2017 update

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Thank you. I was just worried that the old SIM would expire or something as I was sent a new one.

Hi,

Sorry, just one more question if I may.

As I upgraded the data plan to a higher monthly allowance, will that new data still be available using the old SIM if I do not do the SIM swap?

Hi @WadeyBHA

Your upgrade is done on your account. Your sim wont be affected at all.

@WadeyBHA

Your new tariff is added to your account so it will be available on whichever sim you use, but you can only have one of the sims active.

There's no time limit to when you can do a sim swap.
