Unfortunately, due to water damage and no warranty, I was forced to temporarily downgrade to an older handset, a Galaxy Ace with Android 2.2.1 util I can afford to refresh (I'm on a pay monthly package).

I've been texting 2020 but no matter how many times I save their configuration message, my phone won't connect to the internet (3G etc. symbols don't even show up). Is there a way to manually configure this?

Hi.

Check your mobile data is turned on.

Check the Service Status in your area

If you can try your sum card in an alternative phone to rule out your primary handset at fault.

Possibly visiting your local O2 shop to get a new sim card may help. They'll do the swap for you.

Or ask for one to be posted out and you perform the sim swap.

It takes from anything up to 24Hours for the service to settle and by turning the phone off and in will help the reset.
