Moving Sim to new phone

Hi just wondering if someone can give me some help with this! I am currently half way through an O2 pay monthly contract with a Samsung A3 phone. I have been given another Samsung which is unlocked and a better spec than my current one. My question is can I remove my O2 sim from the A3 and put it in unlocked phone and will everything "carry on as normal"? Am I then able to get the A3 unlocked and use it with a none O2 sim? If so does anyone know how long it takes to unlock the A3?

Yes, you can swap to the new phone and just carry on as normal.
O2 will even swap the sim for a different size for free if needed.
To unlock your A3 follow this process, it takes about 4 days to come through once requested https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Other-Products-and-Services/Unlocking-an-O2-phone-to-use-a-different-S...
