Missold contract length

Anonymous
Not applicable
I recently approached 02 in regards to my contract length! When they contacted me to upgrade (via phone) I said I wanted to speak to somebody face to face but they couldn't offer me this option so I continued with conversation and decided I didn't want to renew my 12 month business contract that I was part of at that time because they couldn't offer me the same 12 months again as they had scrapped that option...the operator then said he could offer me a 18 month contract..I was tempted but decided again no...he then offered me a upgrade of phone (which turned out to be the same phone) and at that I agreed...I never received confirmation of this agreement nor did I put pen to paper on it! 16months have now past and I have decided to buy the remainder 2 months out!...only for 02 to inform me I have been signed up to a 24 MONTH contract! I have rang and visited numerous 02 stores and I've been throw from pillar to post and been told that I must honour my contract! I never agreed to 24 months not would I as I was only looking a 12 month contract n the 1st place!
They have til me it would cost me £300 to buy myself out?!? And the 02 people at my local store have also told me that they don't even offer 18month business contracts either?????? This is ludicrous and I feel I have been let down a bag full!! All I want is my contract reduced to 18 months from 24 so I can get out of it! Please help me!!!!

You could try a formal complaint but to be honest I'm not too sure how you will fare with this. Did you check My O2 at any stage for your contract renewal date?

I don't think there's any option except to see it out, unless you can get a transcript of the conversation from when you upgraded, promising you a shorter deal.

It sounds more misunderstood than mis-sold though.
