A friend picked up a microsim for my new phone(Nexus 4).
She doesn't remember being asked if it is for Pay&Go or pay monthly.
I did the swap, data fine, voice calls fine , cannot send txts.
Seems that the new micro sim has the SMSC of pay montly and not PAY&GO stored and cannot be changed in any phone (tried Galaxy S3, old school Nokia) after every reboot it reverts back to pay monthly SMSC.
O2 guru spent and hour working on it remotely - no luck
So are the two sims different- and the o2 rep. in the shop was not aware of it? In this case I just pop in store and get a new one.

They are different as the phone obtains the message centre number from the sim. Back to the O2 store for a new one I'm afraid.
