My mum was an O2 PAYG customer for about several years but recently left and ported her number over to 3.
Last week she received a text from a number that came up as "O2Repairs" that said "O2: We're sending your phone to our repair centre to get it up and running again. We'll let you know when it gets there, or you can track it at www.o2.co.uk/repairs"
She then received another message from the same number today that said "O2: Your phone's back at the shop, ready for you to pick up. Thanks"
Obviousy as she doesn't actually a phone with O2 anymore she hasn't left any phone in with them to be repaired and is a bit confused as to why she is receiving these messages?
