Media messages help

Can anyone enlighten me as to what a media message is, I have just noticed that I have been billed an extra £1.87 for media messages , I have checked the numbers stated and can honestly say the messages were text message and not media, anyone else having this issue. Tried contacting O 2 but surprise surprise network down.

If you send texts to email addresses they will go as an MMS, even if it's just one character.
Why not just email an email address ?

Yep 160 and up to 480 before my phone converts it to MMS.

Is media message a scam,today i was charged almost £15 on my phone,when I rang O2,i was told that any text more then120 words will be charged as media message,this is not on.O2 told me today they will send information re media message on my email but as yet i have not received anthing ,i rang them more then 2 hours before.I donot have time to do long text,not sure where this long text is coming from,I will monitor all my text next month,I also went back to check all my text in last 1year and never seems to have long text or been charged as media message.Hoping o2 will come back to be on this.
