There is a time limit on calls purely to stop people going over their allowances. There is also the likelyhood of pocket-dials where the customer is unaware that that the phone is connected.
Unlike data, minutes don't cut off once you have reached your allowance. At something like 35p/minute out of allowance charges you can imagine how charges will accumulate.
I think 2 hours is a fair limit, your minute allocation is not monitored by O2 so they won't know you have plenty of allowance left.

Yes... but I didn't even know there was such a service. Obviously I know if someone has a limited amount of minutes they cant exceed those...but not that you 'may' be cut off after a length of time...

I well remember a thread on here perhaps a couple of years ago where a guy wanted to speak with his girlfriend all night whilst they were in their respective homes and he took the hump because he was disconnected after 2 hours. I don't think he trusted her
