As a long time O2 customer, my average use of my O2 account is usually fairly low. I am on the minimum sim only rate. I want to do some befrending by phone during this difficult pandemic period and would like to increase my useage to unlimited minutes on a temporary basis now.  If I change the tariff period on the O2 app  it wouldn't start until 21 April and suggests if I change I cant change back. If I get an immediate bolt on it is £5 for an extra 50 minutes monthly which is of little use makes it out of the question.  I am unable to get trhough on the helpline to speak to an O2 advisor.  Advice please?

@SheenaM

I can't think of any way other than trying to contact customer service.

Early morning is the best around 8.00am Guide: How to find help & contact O2

Other options are using Whatsapp to call or Facebook messenger etc but others will need those apps for you to call them.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

@SheenaM Download WhatsApp, then send a text to the people you want to contact to do the same. You can then talk, text, and even video call over WiFi for free.

Alternatively, you could also use Skype for free over WiFi, but both parties need the app as well. Here's a guide on how to use it:

Thanks for your comments. I'm all sorted.  I rang 02 at 8.00 am this am and got through 45 mins later and spoke with Richard in Yorkshire who very easily manually changed my tariff from tomorrow and assured me that I could change it back at a later stage if I so wished.  Thanks Richard and 02.
