I have recently had to make 2 long distance calls to Oman (overseas customer HSBC helpline) and it has cost me around £40, before I have to make another call - what is the most expedient and cheapest method for me to do this pleae?

Hi @Anonymous Have a look at this thread. https://www.o2.co.uk/international-closure Although some services are closing they are inviting people to trial the International Calling Bolt On (currently showing as 24p fixed rate for Oman) https://www.o2.co.uk/intertrial

@Anonymous The cheapest way to make calls to another country from the UK is to not use any bolt-ons. If you have access to a computer or have the Skype app or a similar VOIP on your phone and have a WiFi connection, you can call using that method.
Edit: Just to clarify, you would have to buy credit on Skype or whichever VOIP you choose to use to make the call if you're calling someone who isn't using VOIP, such as your bank. If the number is toll free, however, you could just call using your VOIP over WiFi.
