Good afternoon all!

I'm one of those unfortunte people who has the issue of getting an MMS message link sent to my phone rather than the actual message. A few details to help clarify my position first so we can hopefully get it resolved and so I'm not wasting peoples time.

  • o2 pay monthly
  • MMS messages recieved rarely, i do use whatsapp but the person who sends me the occasional mms does not want to use whatsapp - i am doing this more for their benefit and ease of use. yes i know whatsapp etc is free.
  • Android phone - Moto g8 power, all fully updated
  • google messages app is the default SMS app. Auto-download MMS is enabled under its settings
  • under mobile network settings for o2 > MMS messages is enabled
  • As far as i am aware from searching several guides and posts the APN details are correct. And just automatically came to my phone when the sim was installed. The phone was purchased by me and has no o2 firmware.
  • i have sent the "active" request to 2020 using the sms app but always seem to recieve a reply from 83201 "sorry we are busy right now".

As far as i know MMS should be provisioned on my account. I have been with o2 for over 15 years and since that time MMS has been used previously on other phones ok.

Cheers for any help. Very happy to verify the MMS APN settings too as there was some difference in what i was seeing around the web.

@YorkshirePud

Can you send an MMS to yourself as this usually licks the service into life.

We also know that a zero spend capcan effect receiving as well as sending, so that may also be an issue that you need to change.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

@YorkshirePud You'll need to speak to customer service. No here has access to anyone else's account.

Below is the advice from an O2 Guru on how to get through.
Call 202 from your mobile.
When it comes to the reason you are calling, stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.
Press 2 for Everything Else
Press 5 for More Options
Press 7 for Anything Else which will put you though to someone.

Other available numbers are here: Guide: Coronavirus Community Help and Support

Hi guys. Well i was hoping it wouldn't have to come to calling customer services as no doubt they are busy with far more important calls. But i had another mms off the person in question today and nope despite checking things and adjusting the odd setting it made no difference. Still a link instead of just downloading it. I wouldn't mind but i cant even find something on my account page that looks like it enables or disables it. And as far as i know it has always been provisioned since the service started.
