Lost sim abroad

I lost my sim whilst abroad in Africa - had to use a local sim card. Can O2 post a new sim to my home address?

@NicolaasThey will be only be able to post it to your home address, so that should suit you fine. Best of luck with the reporting and welcome to the forum Smiley Wink.

You really need to get this reported as soon  as possible to avoid someone using it.

If it was a PAYG sim, and assuming low levels of credit on it, picking a replacement up for free at an O2 store is the quicker option. Then call Customer services on  0344 809 0222, keep the receipt they give you in the shop.

You'll need your mobile number, some information about the sim to prove it was yours (last top up amount, balance, registration details if registered and so on ) AND the sim serial number (SSN) of your new sim - which is printed on the back - But you need a jewellers grade magnifying glass to read it, which is where the receipt comes in - as it will be printed on that too. Or else take a picture of the number.

Assuming no one's used your credit up,  the new SIM will be credited with the remaining balance from the lost one, and working in 24-36 hours. The old sim will have been  deactivated and no longer usable.

Oh and call from a landline if possible, trying to get a 19 digit number over by reading it out on a poor VoIP connection to Jo'burg or wherever they are is a nightmare, so the better quality connection you have at your end the greater the chances of success.

NB You can do this at the O2 store but will still need to speak to Jo'burg only this time in a busy store ...

No  it' s   "1 6"   not "1 6" ... That's  "1426 231"...... Sorry..Sorry  it's  ..... " 146231...."

Actually if you were anywhere near Gauteng, popping in would have been quickest of all.

NNB if it's a Contract Sim follow MI5's advice to the letter.

Re: Lost sim abroad

Even if a PAYG sim it may have auto top up enabled so huge bills could still be run up esp from Africa.
