Lost iphone/replacement question

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello

Im on a pay monthly package lasting 2 years with an iphone 4. I lost my phone a couple of weeks ago and have cancelled the SIM etc etc. Ive got another 8 months left of my contract until Im due an upgrade. However, I live in China and am going to Hong Kong within the next two months on business and was thinking of buying a new iphone there. How will that work though? By buying it outright, does that mean Im still on the package deal with o2? Does it mean I need to cancel my contract with O2 and join a chinese network? O2 are sending me a new SIM so buy putting that into my new iphone will that connect it to my UK package so to speak?

Sorry to not use technical lingo etc, but hopefully you get my question slight_smile

Thanks

Sophie

As long as the phone is unlocked, and is not an iPhone 5, which would require a different sized sim, your phone should work, and it will still be on O2, but it will be roaming on whichever Chinese network that O2 has an agreement with. That could get expensive. If you wanted to cancel your contract, and go with a Chinese network, you would have to pay off the remaining 8 months on your O2 contract.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2
