Hi, I lost my iPhone 8 on Friday morning, I called customer services Friday afternoon to get it blocked and then phoned the police non emergency number to report it to which I was told they no longer log them although I believe I need a reference number from them to claim on my insurance.

I was unable to call the insurance yesterday and when I tried today the6 are closed. It says online I must report it within 24 hours, does this mean I also have to claim on my insurance within the 24 hour period also or will it be ok to call tomorrow morning?

Also, as the phone was brand new I was still using my old phone (iPhone 6) with a different SIM card for the last two weeks mostly. I’m concerned this will affect my claim. Any advice?

It's just reporting loss to o2 within 24 hours.
It's ok to call insurance tomorrow.

As long as the insurance was for the 8 it doesn't matter what phone was in use.
