I joined O2 through mobiles.co.uk for my last contract, so I'm not on a O2 refresh plan.

The recent price rise e-mail had this bit:

Because of these changes you have the right to end your tariff without having to pay an Early Termin...

Does this mean I can end my contract and request my PAC code, with nothing left to pay for the remainder of my term, around 7-8 months?

Thanks

@Jasonc

This only applies to none refresh plans.

If you have a device plan, then you have to pay off the device plan in full at time of cancellation. As thats a Consumer Credit Agreement.

The indicator for me that I am not on a O2 Refresh plan is O2 advertise to me an upgrade to a 'Refresh' plan in the 'My O2' app for high cost.

And the fact I only pay one fee (my airtime), not two (airtime + device).

Response from O2 Support in-app:

Yes, you will be able to cancel the contract without any early charge. I see currently you are on a phone contract which ends on X/X/XXXX. Since you are on a standard contract which doesn't bifurcate the airtime and device plan cost, I am unable to confirm the exact amount that you need to pay towards your phone. So what I would suggest you is, contact our dedicated re-contracts team on live chat and they will help you with the further information regarding this

For all those looking to jump ship...

Be very careful...

BT (EE) are charging for all new customers who join from the 7th July £2 per day to roam in Europe

Three are reducing there fair use policy to 12GB on any tariff

Vodafone have yet to announce any other roaming changes and are as now.

So just be careful where you jump to, and also check signal on other networks before jumping in on a new network..

I contacted the re-contracts team:

Me: The O2 person in-app stated: "Since you are on a standard contract which doesn't bifurcate the airtime and device plan cost, I am unable to confirm the exact amount that you need to pay towards

your phone"

Is there any value or amount I'll need to pay towards the phone?

O2: No, you don't have to pay anything for the phone as you're on a standard contract.

So, looks like I'm good to go.
