@Walt Yes you can keep your old number. When you get your new contract, just call customer service and ask them to migrate your old number to your new account.

All sim only plans should be available for upgrades.
Make sure you look under your upgrade options and not your tariff change options, or just go in store to upgrade or call customer service to do it over the phone Guide: How to find help & contact O2
