Keeping my number active

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hey everyone!

Just a quick question - I will be moving to a different EU country soon but I want to keep my UK mobile number active so would switching to the Simplicity NO ALLOWANCE tariff, topping up a few pounds and then sending a text to someone every 5 months do the trick?

Thanks in advance.

You only have to make a chargeable call (or send a chargeable text) every 6 months and top up every 999 days to keep the sim active.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community forum.

As long as you carry out some activity on your account such as making calls /texting and topping up within a 6 month period your account will remain alive.

So what you propose in your post is viable.

Hi @Anonymous and welcome.

What you are suggesting works in practice for me. I have two phones, one on contract and the other on PAYG

I travel to Spain every 6-8 weeks and although my contract phone is the one I use most of the time, I keep my

PAYG number active by sending an occasional text to family members.:smileywink:
