Hi, I decided to contact O2 to see if they could match a deal I'd seen through a third party provider, but still on O2 network. They came up trumps :-), and it was actually slightly cheaper. However, I'm still a little confused as to how I keep my number, and stupidly I forgot to ask when I phoned!! Grrr.
Do I just insert my current sim into the new phone and fill in the keep my number form. My phone is due tomorrow, and my tariff has already changed to the new one. Sorry if this has already been asked 😉

Hi @Puddycat
Just use your old sim if it fits. Which is what many people do.
If not then fill in the keep my number form, or do a sim swap.

Thanks. If I need to fill in the form, is this for my old sim, or for it to be transferred to the sim that is supplied with the phone?

@Cleoriff has said, if your old sim fits, just use it in the new phone @Puddycat
No need to risk being without a working sim unless you really need to.

You can choose to UPGRADE. Either to a new device/contract, or if you want to keep the phone UPGRADE to a sim only contract.
If you do nothing your contract will just keep rolling on month by month.
You won't lose your number if you choose any of the options given.
