Sorry if this is a silly question, I'm halfway through an O2 unlimited 24 month contract. Is this a 4G contract? I thought it was but where I work ( south Derby area) is now in a 4G area but I'm not getting 4G showing on my HTC one M7. Of its not, can it be upgraded to a 4G tariff at no extra cost (with same allowances of course)?

You don't need any setup links to get 4g working...
All you need is:
1 - A 4g phone (with 4g enabled in settings)
2 - A 4g sim card
3 - A 4g tariff
4 - Be in a 4g area.
If you are unsure about any of the above (particularly your account type) give CS a call on 202 to check.

If you look in your My O2 it should tell you if you have a 4g tariff (most are so you should have).
You also need to check that you have a 4g sim card (the sim number will start with "4ggp") and also ensure you have 4g or LTE option enabled in the phones network settings option.

Hi,

We assume that your 4G catchment area is properly up and running.

You can check with your postcode here http://status.o2.co.uk

As a process of elimination try your SIM card if it is a 4G type, in an alternative phone to see if you then get 4G symbol in the phones status bar.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I've tried in a couple of phones with no joy yet, looked on my O2 (on my phone) but couldn't see if I was on a 4G contract. Looked on my aim and it says '4GGP2' on it so presume it's a 4G one. Could be the area at work is still a bit marginal but will keep an eye on it.

I agree, no set up required. If all the clauses are checked, it should work straight out of the box.
