I've been trying to contact my girlfriend in Nepal for the past few days via text message.
I can receive her texts, but for some reason she cannot receive mine. I call up O2 and they removed the international block and myO2 says I am being charged for the texts I am sending. She can receive texts from other phones from the UK, just not from me.
I know I have the number correct as she is the one who texted my number first. It has the country code at the start (+977).
I've been around the houses on this one but can't seem to find a solution. I've spoken to O2 twice and they don't seem to be able to find a problem.
Much appreciated in advance.

So your girlfriend can send texts to you which you receive. O2 have removed the roaming bar on your account and you can see you are being charged for texts you are sending her, though she is not receiving them?
I wonder if it's a problem with her phone or network and not yours?
Ask her to choose another network in Nepal and see if she receives your texts then. Just a suggestion.
She obviously hasn't blocked you as she is sending you texts.
Otherwise you may have to back to O2 and double check that the roaming bar has been lifted. https://www.o2.co.uk/contactus
As a last resort, you could always use WiFi and communicate via messenger or whatsapp.

I've checked with O2 and they say that the block has definitely been lifted, as they wouldn't be able to charge me.
She seems to be able to receive other people's texts, just not mine... so it seems very confusing.
Unfornately whatsapp etc isn't really an option as she will be going out in the mountains literally living in a hut so texting is our last resort.
Absolutely out of ideas, she's tried blocking and unblocking my number, manually selecting networks.
Any other last wim suggestions?

Hi @Kim_needshelp, did you get a chance to try a PAYG sim as @MI5 suggested? Or are your texts now going through?
