I am going to India for one week in November and wondered What the best option is for texting and calling back to UK.

@Katie1 Making or receiving a call whilst in India will cost you £2.00/minute, and sending a text will cost 50p. Either put your phone in airplane mode, or remove the sim completely. WiFi using Skype, WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger, or Facetime if you have an iPhone will help you keep in touch.

Re: India

You're welcome.Bow I edited my reply to say that it would cost 50p to send a text, not receive one. Receiving texts through your normal text app is free anywhere, but you would have to be on a roaming network, and you don't want to do that if you're in India.
