I have just been informed that my monthly payment will increase from £1.80 to £2.50 from April 2026 - no explanation given!
This represents an increase of 20% approximately. As RPI is only 3.9% this month - can this extoronate incresae be explained?

I got this email from o2. My current sim only contract ends in 2027. Can I cancel it due to the pay increase without paying anything further?

It literally tells you in the email, that you can cancel the airtime of your contract, and you have 30 days to do so...
Also the email tells you what to do, and a using the search function would have helped you answer the question as well...

Apropos of VM: their increase was £3.50 in April past. SMS today about a different offer indicates £4 increase next April. My, my!

This was in reply to an earlier post asking what texting INFO did, but got dumped on the end for some odd reason.
Allows o2 to check your contract via your mobile number to inform of how much you'd be charged if you cancelled.
If you've had the additional price increase either by text, email, or both then you can leave without paying for any remaining time left on your contract (does look like the price rise increase is going to apply to all customers however).
You can text INFO to 85075 anytime you wish to check the cost of leaving as it has no affect & costs you nothing, so you can do it now even if not had the increase text or email.
If you also have a device still being paid for then cancelling your Airtime contract simply means you'll continue to pay your usual monthly amount for the device only until fully paid up. You can then grab a SIM only deal for a better price or with better offers, add-ons, etc to use in that device.
Only issue folk had last time this happened was some o2 agents still tried to charge the full remaining amount owed for devices at the time the Airtime contract was cancelled but it was sorted via customer care although still a much unneeded pain, that issue has hopefully been sorted this time round.

Yep. If you also pay for any devices like a handset then those are on separate contracts so will simply continue at the agreed monthly payment until fully paid for, so no worry about laying out a wad for devices if airtime contract cancelled now.

Removed this post as my reply to someone was oddly dropped here instead of below the post I replied to, now redone in correct place.
