Inactive Sim

Hi,

My wife has an emergency phone in her car with a Pay and Go sim card in it. I checked it today and it now says the sim card is inactive. This sim card has/had credit on it so I am not happy that it appears to have been deactivated!

It is a good job that I checked it and she didn't need it in an emergency!

Why has this happened and can I get my credit back?

Normally a call has to be made or received within a 6 month period to remain active. Depending on how long it has been inactive, if you call customer services, they may be able to reactivate it again.

I'm pretty sure they expire if you don't use them for 6 months.
I had the same recently with one from Vodafone.
You will need to ring CS.

I don't actually know the phone number for it so is that going to cause me any issues?

Could be. Some phones let you see your own number, but depending how it works you may not be able to access the menu with an de-registered SIM.

They may be able to help if you give them the number off the SIM which can be cross referenced with the phone number.

However, be aware if it is some time since the phone has been used the number may well have been re-issued.
