Impossible to contact O2

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have been waiting now for half an hour to talk to O2 customer service and there's no sign that I'm anywhere near the front of the queue.  Frightful 'music' is blasting my eardrums while I wait.  Why is a =telephone= company so inefficient that it can't answer its own telephone?  To make matters worse, it seems to be impossible even to send an email to O2 now (there used to be a webmail address).

It's enough to make me abandon O2 and look for a mobile network that is more interested in its customers' interests.  Or does anyone know of a backdoor way to speak to an O2 person or to email O2 -- and be reasonably sure of getting a reply?

Thanks, Toby. I sent you a private message about my problem but you replied (very promptly) saying that you couldn't help, and suggesting that I should contact O2 by various means, all of which I have tried already.

My problem relates to the date of expiry (or renewal) of my O2 contract, which is shown on the O2 website as a date which is (a) wrong, (b) a date on which I shall be away and out of contact, and (c) two months before I shall be ready to decide whether to renew the contract.  I'm pretty sure that on this incorrect date I shall be transferred without warning to a different and much more expensive contract -- which has happened to me before with O2.  I also want to find out how much more it would cost to add 4G to my contract on renewal and  what the new contract's monthly rate would be if I buy a particular new mobile telephone (not from O2).  I have now had a text message from O2 giving a renewal date which is still wrong but closer to the actual renewal date than the one on the website (!).

How can a company like O2 be so crashingly incompetent that it makes it impossible for its own customers to communicate with it?  "Customer Service": what service?

Is that data package "data for iPhone" though or a standard data bolt on?

Hi Brian,

I'm afraid that at certain times of the day, we get higher demand for our customer service reps.

Please keep trying and if you have no success by this time tomorrow, let me know and I'll what I can do personally.
