Do o2 ban imei and blacklist handsets for non payment of bills? I'm about to buy a handset and I'm worried it will get blocked if bills fail to be paid by previous owner !

Hi @Phonegal27 yes they do.
Phones can also be reported lost or stolen and get barred to.
We usually recommend not buying off ebay, gumtree etc.

Thought so to be honest
Alot of people only saying they block if lost or stolen.
I'm just worried I'll get landed with a large bill not of my own doing!

It could also be listed as stolen & used in insurance scams sometimes if you buy a phone off eBay or other auction sites etc

Ok thank you for replies. Just wondering as I've heard people who stopped paying bills and only sim was barred! In quite a few cases! Big chance to take though!

Buy secondhand or refurbished from a reputable place and you'll be K and covered if the worst happens.
Good places to buy are Amazon, O2, giffgaff or CEX.

I vouch for CEX as I purchased a very decent Samsung S3 second hand from my local
