I received a call from **Personal info**206 claiming to be a debt collection agency!

I received a call this morning from **Personal info**206 claiming to be a debt collection agency! A person called Ash said my account had been passed to them to pursue overdue payments. I could get no further details.

 

I phoned o2 who agreed the charges were wrong and had been credited to my account 17 days ago after multiple calls from me. There was no oustanding sum due.

 

I phoned the number above to speak to the debt collection agency feeling rather cross and wanting them to delete my details from their records. I was surpprised to find the so called "debt collection agency" was in fact o2 accounts! Even worse they could not put me through to the department who had misrepresented themselves as a debt collection agency.

 

Is this o2 company policy to intimidate their customers by claiming their accounts are in the hands of a debt collection agency? I hope the answer is no and that this is a one off from an overstepping employee.

 

Anyone else with similar experiences?

Very sneaky tactics but looking on the bright side, thank god it wasn't a debt collection agency.
