I have spoken to two Gurus' today re the above problem, neither has solved it.

I tried the SIM in an old phone - same message.

Has anyone any ideas?

I'd do a sim swap first.
Go into an O2 store or order a replacement from CS http://www.o2.co.uk/contactus
If you order from CS you will need to call them again when you receive the new sim to activate it.
If going in store take some ID with you.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

If you're seeing the same error message using the same sim  on two different phones, it's pretty likely that the sim is faulty. Follow the advice give to you by MI5 and it should sort the problem.

Edit: Just saw your reply post. You need to contact CS either by phone or Live Chat and request a new sim. Problem may be that they may only send it to your registered address, in which case you'd have to get someone to forward it on to you.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

Use the calling from abroad number to speak to CS.
I'm not sure if they post out to France so it may have to be sent to a relative in the UK....
Is this a contract or a PAYG sim?

It depends if you have them stored on the sim or phone...?
