I HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF ON PAY & GO

Anonymous
Not applicable

I recently went abroad and a friend called me from the UK on my O2 to O2 mobile. I was charged £6.06 by O2 for RECEIVING the call. On querying this I am told I made the calls BUT I ONLY RECEIVED the calls & they charge me for this. I asked for the telephone numbers & I am told to fill-in a form & send £10 to receive the tel. records. I am expected to wait 40 days for this. Anyone out there ever been ripped-off by O2 like this?Smiley Frustrated

You get charged for receiving calls when abroad. Everyone knows this by now, surely ??

Funny how they've emphasised all the bits that are covered in the FAQ's slight_smile

The first time I took a phone abroad I spent hours making sure I knew exactly what the costs might be.

A few years ago those charges would have been hundreds of pounds.

I woulnt even contemplate taking a mobile phone abroad on holiday in the 1st place.

Highly stealable.

Extra data Charges.

Call Costs.

Much safer and cheaper to use a payphone !

I always take a mobile away to stay in touch with family and friends. Going away for a week, I would agree BOB but for 3 months a mobile is vital to me, albeit with a local simcard.

I should have been a bit more detailed in my reply really Jonsie !

A holiday for a week to a fortnight I cant see the reason for taking a mobile phone with you.

If for the length of time you speak about because of work secondment or your just plain rich then that's a fair enough comment !  wink

Using a local sim card in an unlocked handset really is the key !

Or just not using it at all, I take mine for emergencies but never phone anyone, only occasionally text as it cost me 8p a text last time I went abroad

First time I took a mobile abroad I rang up to make sure I had ITS as it was then on the account, and turned off voicemail and data before leaving the country.
