How long after taking out a contract, can I port my old number in?

I want to take out a contract soon, but my current contract isn't due to end until March. Is it possible to move my number across then, if I take the new contract out now?

Hi @MrAidanlw97 you can port in a number whenever you wish, there's no time constraints.

Are you with o2 and wanting to upgrade? Or are you moving from another network to O2?

I already with O2 follow the advice here https://www.o2.co.uk/help/pay-monthly/upgrading-your-pay-monthly-mobile

If with another provider you will have to pay off your contract first, ask for your Pac from them and port in to O2
