How do I unlock an iphone locked to o2

Hi

I am in need of some help?

I currently have an o2 iphone, but have recently changed to BT as getting a much better pay as you go deal that o2 cannot match.

How do I go about getting my iphone unlocked?  I have checked with my local o2 store who say it will cost £15, however I have had conflicting advice that o2 do not have to charge to unlock the phone and it can be done by o2 for free?

I have tried to go on to o2 all day to use their 'chat' system, unfortunately, its has been down all day.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Pay as you go will be £15 as they are correct but it's only free for contract customers

If you know anyone with a contract o2 sim get them to use your phone for a day and they can apply for the free unlock for you.
