How Long Does 4G Take To Install?

Anonymous
Not applicable

4G installation started on 3rd June in the Armagh area of NI. Signal has been terrible for years so this improvement for the network is long overdue. Since 3rd jkune the signal has been awful, but this is to be expected (according to status.o2.co.uk) whilst masts are improved and 4G installed. It has been almost a fortnight now and the engineers are still working on it and the signal is still awful. Does anyone know roughly how long it takes the engineers to boost the 2G and 3G signals and install 4G on the masts? Cheers.

Hi there,

Where I was it was really quick, average is 2/3 weeks though.

It may be quicker.

How long is a piece of string......?
Too many variables to give an accurate answer but it will be done as quickly as possible.

12 days in my area and although 3G  came and went, I always had 2G for calls and texts.

Still no 4G here and the status checker is saying that extra work is being carried out at the end of next week (it's been saying that for every week since they started). So, that'll be a month of work, yet still no 4G and 2G and 3G signals are actually getting worse. I've went from usually having at least 3 bars to regularly having 1 or No Service.

What could be taking them so long at installing it here? Perhaps they have finally realised all those complaints about signal problems here over the years weren't lies and there really is terrible coverage and they're FINALLY going to fix it?! Smiley Mad

Hope so, it's taking a while for yours to upgrade.

Until it's completed though it's guesswork if it'll be an improvement. Saying that though, there's lots of ppl who's coverage and signal are greatly improved after the upgrade. My fingers are crossed for u!

It will be worth the wait but it's unusual to take this long unless they are building new masts?

No idea what they are doing, I haven't noticed any new masts but it is now 6+ weeks since they started and still the signal is crap here and O2's site says they are still "doing their thing" to improve 2G and 3G and install 4G! What is taking them so long?!
