I have an 18 month contract with o2 through a Virgin broadband bundle. I have never been happy with it as I have always had poor signal. Recently Virgin changed their terms and stated I can leave Virgin & o2 early with no fees. I have taken them up on this offer. I called Virgin who were happy to cancel me with no fees however when I spoke to o2 they told me this was only sort of related to them.
They informed me I would have ~£175 as an early exit fee. After explaining the situation to them regarding Virgin they understood and were aware of it, however their solution was for me to pay them the leaving fee and then make a request to Virgin to be reimbursed.
The person who told me this stated this how O2 are handling the situation across the board. At this point I had been on the phone to 5 different O2 operators and didn't have the energy to argue so I agreed. After sleeping on it I have decided agreeing to this was mental and it should be O2 who claim this back from Virgin. I hardly think calling Virgin and asking for £175 is going to be an easy task.
I suppose the question is does anyone have any experience of this or a similar situation and does anyone know which department I can call that I might actually be able to get someone who can help with the situation. I just need to exit my contract and not have to be the go-between between two companies that have merged while being £175 out of pocket for what could easily become weeks.
