I am under the impression my story is not new but I am desperate to find if I can get help somehow. My phone was stolen in July and in August I discovered hundred of pounds charged to my mobile phone bill in digital assets google play ( iPhone stolen not using google play ) . I suppose SIM card got inserted into another phone and link my phone number to an unknown google account then spend money that’s been charged to my phone bill. Police advised me to contact my SIM card provider to trace this, after all that could help catch those professional thieves . o2 help put a bar on charge to mobile on my account although I am still fuming this was authorised in the first place, it is a security concern , I have a spent cap but charge to mobile all wide open . Raised a complaint with o2 customer services who are saying this is valid transaction go speak to google . Here comes the you need a Correlation ID from you mobile carrier. O2 would not help me or saying they dont have it so it is stuck in this circle of deny o2 say they cannot give this to me and it’s up to google to deal with it and they don’t have this number. I believe if the 2 companies could cross references their transaction logs it would be fast to retrieve the trace of the transactions, I got the time and amount on my bill and I can't believe between o2 and google they dont have the full picture to trace the transaction they authorised, they manage to take my money .
All I have seen in o2 is just trying to get me tired of chasing this and give up , shame as network coverage and other aspects of this network are great but I am about to get out of my contract.
Does anyone have any experience of this or managed to get a correlation id? any other idea ? thank you

In retrospect, I know, but the first thing to be done if your phone is lost or stolen is to report it, @SteveV1977 - Guide: Lost or Stolen O2 Device? - How to Report it
It limits your risk in cases such as this as the phone and SIM are both barred Guide: O2 BARs
All you can do is persist - a headache made worse by different providers and demands. Someone else here may have better advice now all is after the fact. Good luck!

It has come up in the past.
If you put the word Correlation in the search facility it will bring up a number of past threads
I've not read them so don't know if they will help
