End of contract - pay monthly Sim

Afternoon,

Current O2 customer  contract coming to an end  - i have ordered a monthly sim card which has a new number  but i want to keep the same number -  awaiting the for the sim to come  will that come with a pac code as when i phone O2 I cant get through to anyone.

So  i receive sim  what happens next  as i dont want 2 contracts running at the same time
