End Of Contract

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

It's 20 days until I'm at the end of an o2 24 month contract.  I have now purchased a new phone and o2 contract which starts/arrives in 15 days.

Will there be a problem to switch phones a few days early from my existing contract?

Do I need to cancel or inform o2 that I'm leaving my existing contract to start a new o2 contract (I wouldn't like to be charged for a month I wouldn't use)?

Many thanks in advance.

Yes, you need to give 30 days notice on your old contract.
Call CS tomorrow and let them know.

Surely an upgrade would have been easier, continued service on the same number.

Hi @Anonymous

Well there are different options depending on what you want to do. Like @MI5 said, if you don't want your old number then u have to ring 202 to give your 30 days notice, but if you do want to keep it, wait until the last day of contract,to make sure there are no cancellation fees, and ring 202 with both the new number and old number account details, and they will transfer your old number to the new contract.

   Hope this helps slight_smile

And as an example...here is what I did in January at end of 24 month contract

* Wanted to keep my old number

* Started a 12 month sim only contract

* Contacted CS just before end of old contract.

* Took out a 12 month sim only deal.

* Went instore and got a new 4G sim...O2 staff swapped everything over for me. 10 minute job...Done and   dusted ....over and out... Happy Dance

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.

I tried to go with the Upgrade route but it was over double the initial payment (£249) and 25% more monthly fee for an S6 Edge with O2.  Mobiles.co.uk is where I purchased my new phone/contract for £99 payment and £32.99 per month.  I find it frustrating that I have never been able to use O2 to upgrade 😞

Regards

Steve.

Just call CS and get your number transferred.
It will close your old account automatically and generate the final bill.
Once paid, that's it, all done.
